Executive Producer & Co-Creator

Jamie Strayer, along with Jamie Hammond, was a pioneer in securing the funding to produce the National Public Television series, BizKid$ to advance youth financial education. She facilitated the creation of BizKid$ by working with not-for-profit, cooperative finance leaders to secure production funding for the Emmy Award-winning program. Fourteen years later, Biz Kid$ episodes still air nationally on public television, in classrooms across America, and are in syndication internationally.

Jamie is a thought leader in community development finance. She is the founder of a community and economic development consultancy specializing in developing and implementing U.S. Treasury Community Development Financial Institution Fund (CDFI)  organizational grants. To earn a CDFI designation an institution must prove that its board approved mission is to advance the well-being of communities, that more than 60% of its services are to low-income people, distressed communities, and/or to marginalized populations, and that its board of directors is either low income or volunteers with low- income people. As a result of her work, the US Department of the Treasury invested $135,000,000 to increase access to capital for low to moderate-income people, minority populations, and in distressed communities across 34 states. Her work in this field informed the creation of Opportunity Knock$.

Her passion for community development stems from a love of cooperative finance as a form of social justice.
